Season three winners of NBC’s The Sing-Off, Pentatonix, are arriving in Des Moines just in time to rescue you from your couch potato plans over spring break. The a cappella group will be performing at the Val Air Ballroom on March 6. Doors open at 6pm with show to follow at 7pm. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.

Pentatonix is made up of vocal performers Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstie Maldonado, Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola. Named after the popular five-note musical scale, the group incorporates vocal percussion and tight harmonies to create musical fusion. The performers come from broad vocal and instrumental backgrounds, bringing independent awards and honors to the table along with their talents.

Their debut EP, “PTX Volume 1”, came in #14 on the Billboard Top 200 after being released this past June and included covers of hit songs by Gotye, Fun. and Nicki Minaj as well as original tracks “The Baddest Girl” and “Show You How To Love”. This year’s tour, their second headlining gig, includes sold-out stops at New York City’s Best Buy Theater and House of Blues in both Boston and Cleveland.

You can purchase your tickets online at www.valairballroom.com or at the door- but risk the possibilities of another sold-out show. Their popularity is growing fast as their YouTube channel’s 20 videos have gathered over 53 million views (check out their Thrift Shop cover here: http://youtu.be/Y0qJdShOL_s ), or about 52,999,999 more views than the Central College Harlem Shake videos have received. Aca-believe it.
