MOORHEAD, MINN. – Men’s soccer (3-2) needed a win Sunday against Concordia College – Moorhead (0-4) to avoid coming back from the weekend tournament in Moorhead empty handed.

Despite coming into play winless through three games, the Cobbers of Concordia proved difficult for Simpson for much of the game, taking the lead 1-0 after a Sage Thombrugh goal on a penalty kick in the 54^th minute.

It wasn’t until the 64th minute when freshman Nick Joslyn tied up the score, 1-1, with his second goal in as many games. Josh Harry contributed with an assist on the play. Some brotherly competition ensued when junior Louis Joslyn made it 2-1 Simpson in the 71^st minute, giving the Storm what ended up being the game-winning goal.

Both of the Joslyn brothers each have two goals on the year.

The Cobbers were lucky to be in contention Sunday as the Storm controlled all facets of the score sheet. Simpson put seven more shots on goal, had five more corners, and committed ten fewer fouls than the Cobbers.

Men’s soccer gets back into action on Thursday, looking to improve to (4-2) in Fayette, Iowa where they’ll take on the Peacocks of Upper Iowa at 2 p.m.

Game Notes:

Mitchell White is still in search of the Simpson career record tying, 36^th goal after a scoreless Sunday.

Goalkeeper, Zach McEntee only had to fend off a mere three Concordia shots on goal.
