INDIANOLA, Iowa- After getting their first win on Friday, the women’s soccer team had a chance to make it two in a row on Sunday as they hosted Waldorf College.

The Storm (2-7) got off on the right foot as Katelyn Behounek promptly scored on a three-yard header in the 2nd minute. Bailey Sipfle chipped in on the assist.

Mackenzie Stump extended the lead the 2-0 in the 43rd minute as she knocked home a penalty kick opportunity. This was her second goal in as many games.

A Waldorf team (2-7) that put up 16 shots cut the Simpson lead in half from a Melanie Chandler goal in the 74th minute.

Simpson hung on to their one goal lead for the final 16 minutes to claim their second win in a row and their second win of the season. Goalkeeper Kristin Riley helped keep the Warriors to one goal by making five saves.

Stump and Behounek together now account for four of five of Simpson’s goals on the season. Casey Riesen scored the only other goal for the Storm.

Simpson will take a midweek trip up to UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday at 4 p.m. as they push for three straight wins.
