STEVENS POINT, Wis. – After matching the Pointers of UW-Stevens Point stride for stride through the first half, two Pointers’ second half goals felled the Storm women’s soccer team 2-0.

UW-Stevens Point (3-6) first took the lead in the 55th minute on a Kelsey Schneider goal. The Pointers added to their lead only ten minutes later on a Sarah Vitale score put in after Sarah Meylor’s free kick was rebounded after clanging off the crossbar.

The Pointers controlled the game all afternoon, outshooting the Storm (2-8) 26-5, while also putting up ten corner kicks to only one on Simpson’s end.

Kristin Riley continued to rack up the saves for the Storm, saving nine Stevens Point shots on goal. Mackenzie Stump was the only Storm player who put a shot on goal.

Simpson will have an opportunity to start anew this Saturday as they kick off a brand new conference season against Wartburg College. The Storm will host the Knights at 1 p.m. this Saturday at Bill Buxton Stadium.
