Women’s Volleyball finish up 1-3 at Gustavus Invitational

The Storm faced tough competition this weekend, squaring off against three MIAC and one WIAC opponents at the Gustavus Invitational in St. Peter, Minn.

Simpson started off the roadtrip with a 3-1 loss to Augsburg. Simpson won the first set, 25-21 but were run off the court, dropping the final three sets. Olivia Suentic lead the Storm with 14 kills while Katie Kieffer continued to factor big, racking up 43 assists.

The second match of the tournament ended in the same way as the Storm fell 3-1 to UW – Stout. Tabitha Blaser finished with a game high 20 kills and Kayla Aronow chipped in with 17 digs.

Simpson won their first match of the tournament, knocking off host Gustavus Adolphus in five sets. Blaser and Suentic both had 17 kills in the match. Kieffer played a well-rounded game, earning 43 assists, 14 digs, and 5 blocks.

Bethel University knocked off Simpson in five sets in the final match of the weekend. The Royals came out with a close, 15-13 5th set victory to take home the win. Blaser hit home 19 kills while Elisa Wildy contributed with a .235 hitting percentage and 13 kills.

The (5-5) Storm head into conference play this week as they host preseason favorite Wartburg College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
