AIB Comes Back in 2nd Half to Steal Win from Storm

by Brock Borgeson

Simpson took the lead in the 37th minute on a goal from Collin Hemann (2), but failed to tack onto the lead allowing the American International College of Business (AIB) to take the 2-1 win on two-second half goals.

Freshman Flynn Collins assisted on the Storms only goal and goalkeeper Zach McEntee saved two of the Eagle’s four shots on goal.

AIB scores came in the 48th minute from Lucas Jordan, and then from Renato Firmento for the game-winner in the 75th.

Statistically Simpson put more offensive pressure on AIB than they allowed, outshooting the Eagles 13-11 while attempting three more corners than their opponents from Des Moines.

AIB’s win brought them up to (2-4) on the season while a favored Simpson fell to (4-3). Simpson was 14 games into the 2013 season before dropping their third loss.

After scoring 14 goals last season, Mitchell White has yet to score during live play, with his only goal coming against Nebraska Wesleyan on a penalty kick.

Simpson will not have a long time to dwell on Monday’s loss as they travel down to Fontbonne University for a 7 p.m. match tomorrow.
