LINCOLN, Neb. – Men’s basketball lost 56-84 to Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) College Friday night as the Cobbers shot 47.6 percent from the floor, including 9-14 from 3-point land.

Simpson (3-3) hung tough with Concordia-Moorhead in the first half, only trailing 33-39 at the intermission.

The Cobbers would then go on a 24-10 break in the first 10 minutes of the second half as they slowly separated themselves from Simpson, who shot a dismal 31.8 percent in the second half.

Freshman Sam Amsbaugh was a bright spot for the Storm, leading the team with 12 points while adding four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

Charles Swain was held in check for the first time in a few games, only shooting 3-10 from the floor. Swain finished with six points.

Cody Isabel returned to the lineup for the first time since suffering a concussion against Augsburg College, Nov. 16. Isabel would only play six minutes and wouldn’t record a point.

Concordia-Moorhead (2-1) outrebounded Simpson 39-29 as the Storm continued to struggle on the glass. Leif Olson had five rebounds, leading Simpson in that category.

DJ Dafney would match Olson with eight points apiece.

17 turnovers hurt Simpson significantly as the Cobbers were able to put up 19 more field goal attempts than the Storm.

The Storm will finish up their weekend in Lincoln at the 26th Annual Snyder Classic as they take on host school, Nebraska Wesleyan University, at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
