Men’s swim and dive comes up short against Iowa Lakes CC

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Men’s swimming fell 119-99 to Iowa Lakes Community College in one of their two dual-home meets of the season at the Indianola YMCA on Saturday.

Men’s swimming and dive had six individuals take first place in events, beginning with Dylan Gray who finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.67.

JJ Hansen, having only one competitor to deal with, bested Kyler Rosta in the 1-meter dive with a score of 153.10. Hansen would later win the 3-meter dive by default.

Sophomore Michael Reuter took first in the 200-yard butterfly with a final time of 2:14.63

Two races later, football player and swimmer, Cody Carlson, took the 100-yard freestyle for Simpson College with a time of 50.80.

Kyle McKim finished off the first place finishes for the men, finishing with a time of 2:23.98 as he won the 200-yard breaststroke. Gray finished second behind McKim with a time of 2:26.68.

Simpson men’s swimming and dive is now 2-3 at dual meets on the season.

The Storm have one home meet remaining, this coming on Jan. 24 against Nebraska Wesleyan University.

The Storm will have over a month off from competitions until they head to Grinnell once again, this time for the Grinnell Invitational on Jan. 16-17.
