Shannon Stewart, a 6-0 junior outside hitter/middle blocker for Simpson College (9-1), has been selected the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week for leading her squad to a 5-0 record on the week, including two wins over nationally ranked foes.

Stewart posted three double-doubles with 15 kills and 14 blocks in a four-game win over St. Olaf, 20 kills and 10 blocks in a 3-2 win over 18th-ranked Wartburg and 31 kills and 11 blocks in a five-game victory over 25th-ranked Nebraska Wesleyan.

The Storm claimed the Wartburg Invitational title, its first regular season tournament title since 2000, and Stewart was named MVP.

She averaged 4.80 kills, 2.20 blocks, while hitting at a .497 clip (96-13-167). Stewart added 18 digs and 13 service aces over the course of 20 games.
