Volleyball

The Simpson volleyball team was defeated 3-0 by Central on Sept.30. Freshman Kelsey Hagerty led the Storm with 13 kills and threeaces. The team opened the Simpson Invitational with a 3-0 victoryagainst William Penn. Simpson ended day one defeating St. Benadict3-0 for the first time since 1996. Junior Amanda Chizek had 16 digsand 7 kills playing in only two games. Saturday action began with a3-0 win against Graceland. Senior Rachael Spree posted 15 digs andsix kills. The Storm defeated St. Olaf with a 3-1 victory to winthe tournament.

Men’s Soccer

The Storm pounded Upper Iowa 12-0 on Oct. 1 in Indianola.Sophomore Angel Salcido led the team, scoring three goals. SeniorJason Wichman had three saves and tallied his third shutout for theyear. On Saturday, Oct. 4, Simpson tied with Buena Vista 1-1 inovertime. The following day, the Storm was shutout by St. Olaf,2-0.

Women’s Tennis

Simpson defeated Graceland 5-4 on Sept. 30. Two doubles teamswon their matches, giving the Storm a 2-1 lead. Senior Amanda Byaswon her singles match to put Simpson ahead, 3-2. Graceland had thelead 4-3 heading into the final two matches. Freshman Jen Gibsonwon her singles match to give Simpson the victory.

Women’s Soccer

Simpson defeated Buena Vista 5-0. Senior Lindsay Clark led theStorm scoring two goals. Simpson lost to St. Olaf in overtime 5-4the next day. This is St. Olaf’s first victory over the Storm.
