Football

The no. 24 ranked Storm football team defeated Buena Vista 42-21at Simpson’s Homecoming this past Saturday. Senior Mike Donnenwerthwent 23-for-34, passed for 308 yards and also ran the ball for 33yards in the win over the Beavers. Sophomore Dusty Kain caught nineof Donnenwerths’ passes for 122 yards. The Storm is now 6-1 overalland is in second place at 5-1 in the Iowa Conference.

 

Volleyball

The Simpson Storm volleyball team defeated conference foe BuenaVista 3-0 on Oct. 21. Junior Shannon Stewart led the Storm with 14kills on the night while freshman Tiffany Everding had 13 kills and12 digs. The Storm currently reside in second place at 5-1 in theIowa Conference and 20-8 overall.

 

Men’s Cross Country

The Simpson Alumni Open was held Saturday at Pickard Park wherethe men’s cross country team competed against alumni and runnersfrom other schools. Junior Ryan Gratz ran the best time in the5,000 meter run with a time of 16:17 to finish first. Junior NickBowerman finished third for the Storm with a time of 17:15.

 

Women’s Cross Country

The Simpson women’s cross country team also competed at theSimpson Alumni Open on Saturday where the top five women were allSimpson runners. Sophomore Jen Wendt finished with a first placetime of 12:18 in the two mile race followed by freshman MeganSimpson with a time of 13:37, Erin Hunerdosse at 13:52, freshmanMary Stubbs at 13:59 and freshman Erin Bone at 14:05.
