In an effort to achieve its community service goal, thePanhellenic Council organized a winter clothing drive for JacksonElementary School in Des Moines that ran Nov. 7 through Nov.21.

According to Nicole Stumo, associate director of studentactivities, the idea for the project came from members of thecouncil who visited the school.

“A group [not from Simpson] did a clothing drive for Jackson, and the teachers told Simpson students that it was so wellreceived,” said Stumo. “Then our students thought Simpson couldhelp the kids by organizing a clothing drive for this winterseason.”

In order to make this project a success, each delegate of thecouncil decorated a couple of boxes and distributed them inspecific locations where students would see them easily.

The Panhellenic Council was a little nervous about how well theclothing drive would go because other organizations on campus weredoing similar projects to help children at the same time.
