After The Storm
Men’s cross county
Senior Nick Bowerman won the Central Invitational this weekendwith a time of 26:59, but the Storm finished sixth in the 2004season opener for the men’s cross country team.
Men’s soccer
The Simpson men’s soccer team dropped a pair of 2-1 losses toSt. Olaf and Bethel (Minn.), but picked up a win over Northwestern(Minn.), 4-2.
Volleyball
The No. 19 Simpson volleyball team dropped their first fourgames of the season at the Washington University Classic losing toUW-Platteville, Washington University (Mo.), Bethel (Minn.) andWartburg.
Women’s cross county
The Simpson women’s cross country team placed second in theCentral Invitational this weekend. Senior Lindsay Smith andfreshman Emily Salberg placed in the top-10 for the Storm.
Women’s golf
The Simpson women’s golf team opened the 2004 season on Fridaywith a second place finish at the Mt. Mercy Invitational. The Stormfinished with a team score of 318, led by sophomore Jess Harvey’s78. Simpson picked up a win on Saturday with a team score of 329 atthe Cornell Invitational. Junior Steph Schenfeld led the Storm witha 78.
Women’s tennis
The Simpson women’s tennis team started off the 2004 campaignwith wins over Buena Vista and Coe, but fell to Cornell. Thedoubles combination of juniors Emily DeBolt and Tracy Shiltz hasworked flawlessly for the Storm with the pair putting up a 3-0record through three meets.
