Dutch no match for Storm
Simpson will no doubt beat Central at home this weekend. TheStorm have a 1-0 record this season and is also riding an 11-gamehome win streak at Bill Buxton Stadium while Central is 1-1 overalland was drubbed by Augustana in their season opener, 38-7.
In the past year, the Dutch have seen some devastating thingshappen to their once dominate football program. The Dutch gave up447 yards on the ground against Augustana, the worst allowed by aCentral defense ever. Central was lucky to pull out their first winof the season Saturday against Bethel, 21-20 in overtime.
Central has slipped away from national spotlight and is fightingto keep its head above water. Last year, the team fell intomediocrity with a 5-5 overall record, their worst since a 3-6record in 1960. Central is trying to find where its program isgoing after a 44-year low. Simpson’s program is on the rise. TheStorm has won 11 out of its past 13 games dating back to its 2002season finale and made its sixth playoff appearance last year.
The rivalry, which has taken place since 1905, will be makingits way back to Indianola for the first time since 2001. Simpsonwon last year by a touchdown over the Dutch. This year could bestart of a string of wins for Simpson over Central.
