Men’s soccer

The Simpson men’s soccer team fell in the first round of theIowa Conference tournament last Tuesday to Loras, 4-1. SophomoreMark Pleiss scored the lone goal for the Storm at the 8:47 mark totie the game at one, but the Duhawks would knock in three moregoals to seal up the win. The Storm finished the season at9-9-1.

Volleyball

The Simpson volleyball team wrapped up the 2004 season with asemifinal loss to Central in the Iowa Conference tournament held inDubuque, 3-2. The Storm made it to the semifinals after avenging aregular season loss to Buena Vista, 3-1. In the loss to the Dutch,Simpson was led by 19 kills from sophomore Jessica Martin andjunior Ashley McGraw and Martin led the team with 23 digs. TheStorm end the season at 16-19.

Women’s soccer

Simpson managed just three shots on goal to Luther’s 16 as theNorse defeated the Storm 2-0 in the Iowa Conference semifinals.Simpson advanced to the semifinals after defeating Dubuque 5-1 inthe quarterfinals. Sophomore Morgan Kelly scored a pair of goalsfor the Storm in the win. Simpson finished the season 15-7, theirmost wins since 2002.

Storm Damage

77 – The Simpson women’s soccer team finished the season leadingthe Iowa Conference with 77 goals this season, the most goals byany conference school this season.

25 – Amount of shots the Loras Duhawks took in a 4-1 win overthe Simpson men’s soccer team. The Storm only accumulated six totalshots.

7-3 – The Simpson volleyball team had an advantage of playing athome this season with a 7-3 mark.

7 – Simpson opponents haven’t favored well against the Stormdefense in the third quarter. Through nine games, opponents havebeen able to only score a total of seven points. The Simpsonoffense has managed to score 36 points in the third quarter.
