Football

Simpson stepped out of the Iowa Conference play this pastweekend and fell to the Central Methodist Eagles, 24-17. The Stormdug themselves a large hole in the first half turning the ball overfive times as Simpson fell behind 14-3.

Simpson would calm down in the second half, but a fourth quarterrally would leave the Storm one touchdown shy of forcingovertime.

Junior Scott McCarty threw for 318 yards on 26 completions forthe game and sophomore Carl Duffy ran 20 times for 140 yards.

Men’s cross country

Senior Nick Bowerman led the Simpson men’s cross country team toan eighth place finish at the Iowa Conference Championships.Bowerman placed seventh out of 59 runners.

Men’s soccer

Simpson finished the regular season with a convincing 11-2 winover Upper Iowa. Junior Angel Salcido, sophomore’s Nate Ruhland andMatt Fiene and freshman Nate Haville all scored a pair of goals apiece for the Storm to improve their record to 9-8-1.

Women’s cross country

The Simpson women’s cross country team placed seventh at theIowa Conference Championships held this past weekend at CentralCollege. Freshman Mary Rouleau led the Storm placing 25thoverall.

Women’s soccer

The Simpson women’s soccer team finished the regular season witha 2-1 win over UW-La Crosse. The Storm completed the regular seasonwith a 14-6 record going into Iowa Conference tournamentaction.

Storm Damage

5 – The Simpson football team compiled five turnovers ina loss to Central Methodist: one fumble and four interceptions.

6 – Senior Nick Bowerman continued his streak of top-7finishes this past weekend at the Iowa Conference Championshipswith a seventh place finish for the men’s cross country team.Bowerman has finished in the top-7 of all six of Simpson’smeets.
