Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor: This is in response to the Letter to the Editor by Chris Schacht. First, let me make this statement loud and clear: your opinions are great but they are not facts. Just because people do not see your way does not make them idiots.

On to the so-called “facts.” How do Bush’s tax cuts “overwhelmingly” support the rich? Last I looked, the tax cuts benefited everyone that pays an income tax. Because the rich make more, they will pay less of an amount than before, but that is still much more than the lowest tax bracket pays. Why should only part of the nation receive a tax break? Second on your lists of “facts” is Bush supports tackling nations that “have little or no affect on America.” What next, we were wrong for responding to 9/11? When the President of the United States as well as Congress feel that force should be used there is a reason. Lastly, I assume you are talking about the Patriot Act. This does not take away your civil liberties, it protects you. Seriously, tell me one thing that you personally have not been able to do since the it passed? I doubt that you can.

As for you offending me, you did. I’m not an idiot. I understand that you might be upset about the results of the election, but get over it. Unemployment is low, the economy is growing, and America is proud. Honestly, if you’re that upset about this, get off your butt and do something about it.
