Applauding the silence

Being gay, or even just standing up for gay rights, isn’t easy – especially in small-town Iowa. It takes a special confidence and a feeling of security that many people in this country have never needed. The Simpsonian supports the rights of all students who fight for equality, even though it may not be popular. We also support those who will soon wear their opinion on their mouths.

Tomorrow, LGBTQA will participate in the Day of Silence for all those who have been hurt by intolerance of sexual orientation. We hope students, gay or not, support this day and even follow through with its strict discipline. We also hope professors support their students taking part in this very important event. The education they receive that day will greatly surpass any lecture a professor can give.
