Letter to the Editor

I am thoroughly disappointed with the response of the entire student body to the $2 charge for midnight meals. Could we get a little more pathetic? First off, it’s only $2. You don’t even have to pay cash if you have Flex dollars. Second, I don’t know of any other place that serves an all-you-can-eat buffet for $2, let alone at midnight. On top of that, most people choose to go intoxicated, and if they behave well, they don’t get in trouble.

I don’t see what the big deal is. So maybe you can only go to midnight breakfast once a weekend. But I can assure you, boycotting midnight breakfast is not the answer. Instead of paying $2 to eat within walking distance, you will end up driving somewhere else and paying for higher-priced food as well as gas.

CAB works very hard to provide entertainment for all of Simpson’s student interests. Just because you like midnight meals doesn’t mean that CAB should cancel an event someone else enjoys. If it’s really that big of a deal to you, then join CAB and voice your opinion at the meetings. If you won’t, CAB has no reason to listen to you or The Simp complain. If people stop coming, then maybe midnight meals will just fizzle out, but making them free again is not an option for CAB. So either leave CAB to do as its members see fit without harassing them constantly about their errors, or put in the time that CAB members do on a regular basis.
