Happy Madison Productions has successfully created a heartwarming and comical story all in just under 80 minutes with “The Benchwarmers.”

The cast of Rob Schneider, David Spade, Jon Heder and Jon Lovitz truly captured the essence of their roles and were incredibly humorous at the same time.

Gus (Schneider) is a regular guy fed up with kids getting bullied. He teams up with his two best friends, Richie (Spade) and Clark (Heder) to form a three-man baseball team geared to give all the “nerds” a little bit of hope and fun.

Throughout the film, the three go head-to-head with the little league in an attempt to get back at all the bullies from their childhood.

Director Dennis Dugan has done a great job of conveying the message of the film. The movie is packed full of intellectual and physical comedy, which gives a nice mix for all ages.

Aside from all the comedy, there is great moral value to be gained from viewing this film. It teaches that there is more to life than being “cool” and everyone should have the chance to be great. This movie is not about winning or losing, it’s about having fun and standing up for “the little guys.”

This is a far-fetched story, but it proved to be very touching, comical and inspiring; its only fault was it would probably never happen.

The film has all the qualities of a feel-good movie, complete with a fairy tale ending that is a bit unexpected, yet forces a smile.

I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars and would definitely recommend going to see it. Take a lesson from the movie’s catch phrase and remember, “It’s never too late to take a stand.”
