Students may wonder who the new mysterywoman is with the office in Brenton Student Center, and why has she been seen at CAB events and Student Government Association meetings.

This is a mystery no longer. Her name is Lindsey Hunzelman, and she’s the new assistant director of student activities. Hunzelman began her work at Simpson on June 19, so each day she learns something new about Simpson.

“This is the third college campus I’ve dealt with, and it is interesting to understand the inner-workings of Simpson a little more each day,” Hunzelman said.

Lindsay graduated with a bachelor of arts in Communication Studies from Iowa State University where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She continued her education at the University of Denver, graduating with a master’s degree in Higher Education with an emphasis in student development.

While at the University of Denver, she was a graduate assistant, working specifically with Greek life. One of her main roles at Simpson is to serve as a Greek adviser. She meets with the Panhellenic Council, officers, alumni members and advisers to make sure everything is on track in each Greek house at Simpson.

Another aspect of Hunzelman’s job is to help with CAB leadership. She works closely with Rich Ramos, assistant dean of student activities, and is quickly learning how everything is handled in dealing with campus activities here.

Hunzelman also attends the student senate meetings, and serves as an adviser to SGA as well. She works directly with the president and vice president of the student body.

“The faculty at Simpson have been so great and welcoming, but what I really appreciate are the close bonds I’ve made with some of the students,” Hunzelman said.
