Day In the Life of...

Jesus Mendez, director of campus services, has been at Simpson for two years. He helps with the upkeep of the entire campus and oversees the transportation of all the maintenance workers. Mendez helps set up events and manages custodial workers into three shifts. His busy days start bright and early.

7:30 a.m. – Arrive on campus.

7:30-8:30 – Get reports from managers, managers meetings.

8:30-11:00 – Follow up on projects and work orders, return phone calls and e-mails.

11:00-2:30 p.m. – Lunch and work on Sodexho Diversity Council, which is a chartered employee group with a specific set of tasks targeted at advancing the organizations diversity strategy.

2:30-3:00 – Inspections on campus, walk around and talk to people, meeting with different departments and talk about upcoming events.

3:00-4:30 – Planning for next day, review financial activities, review invoices.

4:30-5:00 – Personal time in office.

5:00-7:00 – Go home and spend time with wife Reina and four kids – Luis, Yamileth, Eric and Diana.

7:00-9:00 – Work on finishing education through the University of Phoenix Online.

9:00 – Catch up on sports and news.

10:00 – Pray and go to bed.
