Check It: If dinner seems too predictable for a memorable Valentine’s Day, here are a few eyebrow-raisers.The Central Iowa Blues Society will be hosting 10 bands on five stages in one hotel this Valentine’s Day. Wristbands, which will allow access to each of the five stages, can be purchased ahead of time for only $12, and will sell for $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at Blues on Grand or at Hotel Fort Des Moines, where the event will be held. What a perfect opportunity to get a room since the concert is actually held in a hotel. If you are old enough to drink and need a mood setter for this Valentine’s Day, check out the Burlesque Ball being held at People’s Court on Court Avenue in Des Moines. The burlesque show will begin at 8 p.m.m on Saturday and will feature well-known burlesque dancers such as Roxie Copland and Leslie Hall. Tickets are $15 in advance and can be purchased at www.IowaTix.com or at People’s Court.

Fast Forward:If the gift of music seems like a must for the apple of your eye, The Fray’s self-entitled album, which was just released Feb. 3, is a collaboration of beautiful lyrics, soothing sounds and well-written melodies. The Fray album is comprised of a set of 10 songs which will captivate the heart and mind, including radio playlist repeat “You Found Me.”Hopefully these ideas will help the procrastinator and enhance the well-prepared. As Curtis Judalet said, “Love is as much of an object as an obsession, everybody wants it, everybody seeks it, but few ever achieve it, those who do will cherish it, be lost in it, and above all, never… never forget it.” Make this Valentine’s Day one worth remembering.
