Indianola Police announced earlier today that they have charged one person in connection with assaults that took place near the Simpson College campus last weekend and expect more arrests to be made today.

The subject charged was a juvenile, 17-year-old Dakotah Mason Wessel. Wessel was charged with four counts of assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor, for incidents that occurred Sunday, Oct. 11 and Monday, Oct. 12.

According to police, they will not be requesting a warrant for Wessel, but he has been cited and released to a parent.

Indianola Police Chief Steve Bonnett said they expect charges to be filed against three other subjects whose names have not been released.

“Our investigation continues and additional charges are a possibility,” Bonnett said.
