Great Ape Trust renews partnership with Simpson CollegeOn Feb. 4, the Great Ape Trust decided to renew their partnership with Simpson College, which makes the college the organization’s primary undergraduate partner.”We are pleased to be continuing our relationship with Great Ape Trust,” said President John W. Byrd in a press release. “Simpson is lucky to have a world-class research institution in such close proximity to its campus. The partnership provides a fantastic opportunity for our students to work with and learn from the talented scientists and scholars at The Trust.”The partnership allows at least two incoming students with four-year scholarships as well as research and learning opportunities for students on campus. Two scientists from the trust will be teaching classes on campus through this partnership.In addition, the college will also assist Great Ape Trust in applying for analyzing data, grant funding and infrastructure and administrative support.This agreement will become effective May 10, 2010 and will consist of four stages. The scholar recipients will start by spending time with the apes after extracting 40 years’ of videotapes of ape research, statistical analysis, editing research reports and assisting in caretaking responsibilities. – Allison McNeal/Copy Editor

Feb. 2: A hit & run was reported on ‘C’ St in front of Kresge Residence Hall. A vehicle reportedly sustained damage to the driver’s side mirror, quarter panel, wheel and bumper. An IPD report was filed and the case is under investigation.
